How to make Karkidaka kanji? Probably one question most of us asking during this Karkidakam. We have given step by step instructions to prepare Karkidaka kanji here. Karkidaka Kanji is a herbal soup during Karkidakam. It boosts your energy and makes you active during this heavy rainy season. So usually traditional doctors advise people to use this throughout the season.
Ingredients required to Make Karkidaka Kanji
The following ingredients are required to make Karikidaka kanji. Make sure that you have them on your kitchen table before starting the preparation.
1. 1 teaspoon each of the following herbs: Aashali, Fenugreek, Cardamom, Cumin, Coriander seeds, Aniseed, Dry Ginger, Black Cumin, Nutmeg, Cloves, Varattu Manjal, Uzhinjil, Thazhuthama, Kurunthotti, Karikurinji, Puthirichundu, Changlam piranda, Ayamodakam, Ariyaaru mix
2. 1/2 cup Navarra Rice
3. 2 tablespoons whole mung beans and
4. 2 tablespoons broken wheat
5. 1/2 cup fresh cow’s milk
6. 1/2 cup coconut milk
7. 1 tablespoon ghee
8. 2 pearl onions/shallots
9. 1 teaspoon salt
10. Jaggery/Karipetti to taste.
Now the ingredients are ready, go through the steps to make Karikidaka Kanji. Do according to the instructions given below.
1. Initially boil Navarra rice, beans, wheat and the ingredients which are needed in one teaspoon.
2. Add milk when the rice, beans and wheat appear cooked. Keep it like that for around ten minutes and add salt and jiggery according to your taste.
3. Stir the mixture well.
4. Then heat ghee in a pan and sauté chopped shallots to a golden brown and pour the tempering over the kanji.
5. Wait for few minutes and let it cool down for some time. Now Traditional Karkidaka Kanji is ready for you. Grab a teaspoon and taste it.
